Merry Christmas!

Welcome to the TMH Kids Family Advent Calendar! We’re glad that you chose to participate in this fun, family event.

Christmas time can be busy and full of high expectations, but it is our hope that this advent calendar does not become just another thing to do. Through time intentionally spent together, we pray you will dig deeper into the story of Christmas and what Jesus’s birth truly means, while creating new memories and traditions.  As you watch the daily devotions and reflections, we have provided discussion questions for each day to spark deeper conversation within your family.

Let’s explore the contents of your kit, and how you can use them to connect as a family this holiday season. As you put your calendar together, pay attention to what will excite your kids and what will be the most meaningful for them. The calendar contains 3 different types of cards: Red Devotional Cards, Green Activity Cards, and Gold Event Cards.

Red Devotional Cards: The Red Devotional Cards are numbered to match the envelopes each day.  They contain a short bible passage to help your family spend time daily reading the Bible together.

Scan the QR code to access a short video featuring one of our Kids Team Members reading the day’s Bible passage and sharing a short thought about the Bible passage. This should help your kids stay engaged and understand more about what is being read. Scripture passages in our online devotionals are read from the International Children’s’ Bible.

Green Activity Cards: Green Activity Cards contain a variety of Advent activity prompts. Use the provided calendar sheet to keep track of what you have planned for each day as well as keeping you prepared for upcoming supply needs. The Green Cards with QR codes have additional resources online, such as links to external organizations, recipes, playlists, etc.

The key with the activities is to be consistent, so try your best to have something for each day even if it’s quick and easy. Your kids will look forward to opening the envelope and anticipating that day’s family activity! Choose activities that are the most realistic for your family and don’t intentionally cause more stress around the holidays.  Two green blank cards are included in your kit for you to add your own family traditions, if you need them!

Gold Event Cards: Golden Event Cards identify special Christmas events and traditions in our larger community.  Most of these cards are already dated, so if you’re planning to attend one of the events, make sure you add it to the correct day’s envelope.

Two blank Golden Cards are included in your kit; use these to add special events already on your calendar (like holiday concerts and parties) to your Advent activities!

Follow these simple steps to set up your calendars:

1. Lay out your envelopes and add the number stickers 1-24; the gold envelope gets the special Christmas tree sticker for Dec. 25. We know white is a bit ‘blah’, so add some pizzaz using the little stickers we provided, or add your own touch by drawing, using washi tape, or whatever adds to your Christmas spirit!

2. Choose an activity card (green or gold) and pair it with the appropriate red bible card. Coordinate with your master calendar so that you don’t plan to bake cookies the same night as the school concert! Use the date sheet to write them down so you can plan accordingly for any activity supply needs and not forget what is inside each envelope.

3. Put the cards in the coordinating envelope and hang them up on the string using the mini clothespins. Each envelope should have one green activity card or golden event card and a red devotional card.

4. Count down until December 1st, then start creating new family memories using your TMH Kids Family Advent Calendar!

5. After Christmas, pack your box up and save it with your Christmas decorations to be used again next year!

We are excited to go on this Christmas advent adventure with you and look forward to hearing about your family memories being made! Have a great Christmas season!

Blessings!
